Discovering Your Past Lives Via Past Life Regression

What is Past Life Regression?

Past life regression is the attempt to access your previous lives, usually by means of meditation, hypnosis, or a psychic reading. The theory behind past life regression is that each of us has lived many different past lives. The basis of this theory stems from the belief that our souls never die. When someone dies, it is that person's physical body that dies, not that person's soul nor spirit. An example of a past life experience can be when you meet someone for the first time and you instantly feel at ease with him or her. Both of you "connect"; and you feel like you have known each other before, yet you both are strangers. That is an example of a past life experience. At some point many years earlier, you knew each other: It may have been 50 years ago or it may have been 400 years ago. Since your soul can never die, time is irrelevant.

Even your current interests may be a link to one of your past lives. For example, if you like sailing and you feel at home on the seas, you may have been a sailor at one time in some distant past life.

Why Bother Uncovering Any of Your Past Lives?

What you can uncover about your past lives can help you in your present life: The lessons you did not learn from a previous life carry over into your next life. Often your current destiny is directly linked to whatever your previous unresolved destiny was. It's like a cycle that endlessly repeats itself, until you "break" the cycle by learning whatever lesson you are meant to learn, and then moving forward with your life. Unless you deal with your issues and put your life in order, you are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Whomever or whatever you attract into your life, is there for a reason.

The Theory of Past Life Regression Is Controversial

It would be an understatement to say that the theory of past life regression is controversial. Some people want nothing to do with it; whereas others are willing to explore it and see what they can discover. Probably, for most skeptics it is the fear of the unknown. It's like starting to research your family's history to put together a Family Tree. When your research starts to uncover the unsavory relatives whether they be murderers, thieves, or adulterers, suddenly your family's interest in parading its past family members is not so strong! Many a Family Tree has had to undergo pruning in order to maintain the family image!

The same situation may easily arise when uncovering your past lives or those of others. Be prepared for some potential shocks. For example, at present you may be a housewife that lives in the suburbs of New Jersey with your husband and children, yet you may discover that in one your past lives you were a saloon girl in the American wild, wild west in the late 1800's. Also, your current pious uncle may have led a past life where he was not so pious; for example, he could have been such a womanizer, drinker, and gambler that he scandalized an entire town to the point where he was "booted" out of town for immoral behavior! Who knows what you will uncover about yourself as well as others!

When you undergo a past life regression to uncover a past life experience, you re-enact a part of that past life. You and other people whom you may or not know are directly involved in this re-enactment. It's like being in a movie with yourself as the major actor surrounded by others who may be strangers or people who are in your life at the present time.

Your Conscious Mind

Your mind is composed of two entities: The conscious mind and the subconscious mind . The conscious mind rules your mental world, allowing you to reason, judge, perceive, and reject every impression you have of the visible world around you. All of your decisions are made by the conscious mind.

Your Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind controls all of the involuntary processes of your body, such as, the circulation of your blood, the digestion of food, etc. Around the clock whether you are conscious or unconscious, your subconscious mind is busy building, sustaining, repairing, and operating your body. Your subconscious mind retains your memory and it acts as the control center for your habits, instincts, and emotions.

All of your past memories are stored in your subconscious mind. Every experience you have ever had is stored within it. For example, what you had for dinner five years ago on July 13th is stored in its memory banks. The major problem with uncovering any of your past lives or even past memories in this lifetime is that they are all stored in the subconscious mind and thus are difficult to access. Think of how difficult it is to even access your childhood memories. Obviously, uncovering a past life memory is going to be far more difficult. This difficulty accessing the memories locked within our subconscious mind may be our brain's natural defense mechanism. If each of us had easy access to all of the memories stored in our subconscious mind, we could easily be overwhelmed to the point where we could not function.

Most people have difficulty focusing on a particular task with only the conscious mind accessible. If the subconscious mind was also accessible, you would experience something akin to opening the "flood gates". You would be overwhelmed with data, to the point where you could not focus on anything and your life could be seriously impaired.

How You Can Undergo a Past Life Regression Experience

If you are interested in exploring your past lives, do one or more of the following steps:

  • Take a meditation course and ask the instructor to show you how you can uncover your past lives through self-hypnosis.
  • Make an appointment to see a hypnotherapist who specializes in past life regression.
  • Visit a psychic or channeller that is able to view your past lives.

Note: Many psychics, channellers, meditation instructors, and hypnotherapists place advertisements in local New Age-type magazines. Preferably, ask your friends if they have had a past life reading and if so, by whom.
